Description

Olivia Quinlan from Robert Half is hiring for a Director of Web Development in Syracuse, New York. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in spearheading the strategic direction for web development across the organization’s main digital platforms. This role involves leading a team of developers to make informed strategic choices aimed at delivering exceptional digital experiences for all users. The Director of Web Development is responsible for establishing and maintaining web development standards and processes essential for creating and sustaining the organization’s primary web properties. This position involves the integration of existing systems and new technologies, ensuring platform consistency and content management system compatibility. The Director will work with various partners to maintain a secure, accessible, and user-friendly digital environment, offering support whenever necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and steer strategic priorities, providing guidance on technical and quality assurance standards to support the creation of top-tier digital applications and services.

The Director has the authority to innovate and set standards across the organization’s digital platforms.

Ensure that websites and associated applications meet security, accessibility, and coding standards.

Act as the product owner and operational manager for enterprise web application development.

Direct and oversee a team of developers and a DevOps specialist, ensuring compliance with coding standards (e.g., security, accessibility) in the development and implementation of components, templates, features, and functionalities.

Provide effective leadership, fostering a positive work environment, high team engagement, and a culture of accountability.

Collaborate with digital strategy, UI/UX, technology, and other internal and external partners to prioritize the development roadmap and advocate for features that deliver the most value and optimal experiences for the audience.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Over 7+ years of experience in web management, design, development, and maintenance.

At least 2 years of experience in a leadership role.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

Strong leadership and communication abilities, with a collaborative and solution-focused approach.

Proven leadership capabilities, including team building, coaching, mentoring, and development.

Significant experience in designing and developing accessible and responsive websites.

Experience in implementing quality assurance testing procedures with keen attention to detail.

Good visual and auditory acuity for tasks related to web development and design.

Technology Experience:

Advanced expertise in core web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Extensive knowledge of JavaScript frameworks like Vue.js, Angular.js, and React.js.

Proficiency in server-side languages such as Python Django, PHP, Java, and .Net.

Familiarity with database technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MongoDB.

Experience with cloud hosting services, such as AWS and Azure.

Knowledge of content delivery networks (CDNs) like Amazon CloudFront.

In-depth experience with content management systems, particularly Wagtail and WordPress.

Understanding of enterprise platform technologies and best practices.
