This role's duties will require planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. This role's duties will require leading with integrity and reliability and having the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services. This permanent position is for a Controller who will work in the Kent, Ohio region.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure deliverables of self and team meet client expectations

  • Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

  • Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required

  • Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports Requirements - Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

  • The ideal candidate will be highly-skilled with exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Annual Standard Cost experience

  • Knowledge of financial statements consolidation

  • Month end closings experience

  • Financial statement preparation experience desired

  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing

  • General ledger experience preferred

  • Adeptness in standard costs

  • High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required

  • Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued

  • Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • CPA or MBA preferred

  • Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
