Description

If you're comfortable with preparing and processing financial statements and accounts and managing all general accounting and bookkeeping essential functions, Robert Half might have a job for you. This position will require excellent organizational skills, strong communication tactics, and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines. This long-term contract Full Charge Bookkeeper position is located in Tarrytown, New York.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising accounting clerks and entry-level bookkeepers

  • Studying and adhering to federal, state, and local legal requirements, filing reports, and detailing needed actions to management

  • Handling reconciliations for bank and general ledgers, and processing payroll

  • Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable; handling collections as needed

  • Maintaining historical records by filing documents

  • Preparing the trial balance and financial statements, including, but not limited to, balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows

  • Tracking fixed assets and preparing depreciation schedules

  • Ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close

    Requirements - 3+ years of bookkeeping experience

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills

    • Excel, Quickbooks, and Peachtree experience a plus
  • Can work independently with minimal supervision

  • High school diploma or similar certification with an AA degree or higher in Accounting or Business recommended

  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in procedures and job assignments

  • Proficient in accrual and cash basis of accounting

  • Experience with payroll preferred

  • Bank reconciliations experience desired

  • Command of journal entries

  • Strong familiarity with general ledger

  • Microsoft Excel experience preferred

  • Proven knowledge of customer invoices

  • Accounts Receivable (AR) experience

  • Ability to multitask and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds

  • Outstanding skills in analyzing financial data and promptly generating accurate reports
