Robert Half Full Charge Bookkeeper in Tempe, Arizona

Description This Full Charge Bookkeeper opportunity has growth potential for a candidate who multi-tasks effectively and has strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills. Robert Half has an opening for a Full Charge Bookkeeper that might be just what you're looking for. Based in Tempe, Arizona, the Full Charge Bookkeeper role is a short-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity. In this position, you will be responsible for all general accounting and bookkeeping functions, including the preparation of financial statements, as well as establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives.


  • Ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close

  • Producing the trial balance and financial statements, including, but not limited to, balance sheet and statements of income and of cash flows

  • Handling reconciliations for bank and general ledgers, and processing payroll

  • Handling processing tasks for accounts payable and accounts receivable, including collections

  • Following progress of fixed assets to prepare depreciation schedules

  • Studying and implementing federal, state, and local legal requirements, filing reports, and communicating with management on needed actions

  • Filing documents to maintain historical records

  • Overseeing work of accounting clerks and entry-level bookkeepers Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent, AA degree or higher in Accounting or Business preferred

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills

    • Earlier work involving Excel and Peachtree
  • Ability to multitask efficiently and prioritize work

  • A thorough knowledge of accrual and cash basis of accounting

  • Aptitude for analyzing financial data and generating accurate reports in a timely manner

  • Experience with payroll preferred

  • 3+ years of bookkeeping experience

  • Knowledge of QuickBooks

  • Proficiency in bank reconciliations

  • Solid understanding of Job Cost

  • Be creative, adaptive, and eager to learn new technical skill sets
