A client of ours is currently looking for a Senior Sourcing Specialist to join their Procurement Team in The Woodlands, TX. Your primary responsibilities will include developing and executing sourcing strategies for various raw materials and packaging products. As a Senior Sourcing Specialist, you will be supporting multiple manufacturing sites, supply chain and business teams using best practice sourcing methods to negotiate, execute and administer spot and/or term contracts to achieve optimum cost and supply reliability for your internal customers. As part of your role, you will ensure sourcing activities/monthly nominations are synchronized with supply chain and plant teams’ sales plans for current and longer-term production plans. It will be critical for the candidate to understand the importance of detailed market analysis and supply/demand dynamics for the assigned raw materials and packaging products, while managing effective internal client and supplier relationships up to the senior level. What will be expected from you

  • Execute strategic sourcing following the agreed processes and sourcing strategy methodology.

  • Comply with all corporate EHS and business conduct policies.

  • Provide expertise as a trusted advisor to the business for market analysis and contracting strategies for assigned purchasing category.

  • Promote cross-functional cooperation in assessing risks and developing models associated with supply and technical compliance.

  • Ensure the deployment of strategic purchasing plans driven by customer requirements, manufacturing results and capabilities, distribution and logistics objectives and business economics.

  • Implement KPI’s that clearly indicate the performance level of the sourcing strategy and supplier effectiveness. Maintains focus on added value, and achievement of the lowest total cost to serve.

  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, better efficiency, and other areas of improvement.

  • Apply supply risk assessment and risk mitigation methods to protect business continuity.

  • Manage operational issues related to supply/demand challenges.

  • Collaborate with business unit leaders and colleagues on strategy development, innovation, and continuous improvement plans.

  • Promote excellent working relationships with internal customers and other supporting organizations.

  • Maintain relationships and open dialogue with key supplier contacts.

  • Ensure that business drivers, departmental goals and measures are aligned.

  • Demonstrate expertise with SAP and other tools for planning, analysis, and improvement of business performance for categories assigned.

    Requirements

What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?

  • 10 years of petrochemical or manufacturing experience, with 3 to 5 years of purchasing sourcing experience required.

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management or other appropriate discipline.

  • Proven ability to set and meet tight timelines of execution, appropriately influencing positive action by cross functional peers and colleagues

  • Managing a quality assurance or audit program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of SAP, Ariba, Agile development processes, contract law, negotiations planning and execution, and other aspects of strategic sourcing management.

  • Operating plant experience in the chemical industry highly desirable.

  • Experience in establishing commodity segment sourcing strategies.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management methods and tools.
