Robert Half Finance is looking for a Senior Accountant for a full-time opportunity in the The Woodlands, Texas area. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for provide strategic support and assistance for SEC filings and overall financial reporting policies and procedures. A thorough knowledge of US GAAP is a requirement, as well as keeping current with US GAAP authoritative guidance and SEC rule trends and changes, while having the ability to research/document complex transactions, and work with external auditors on technical accounting positions.
Your responsibilities in this role
Provide technical accounting guidance in the identification and application of US GAAP, SEC, and other authoritative accounting guidance in support of the company’s global finance organization.
Communicate accounting guidance and policies to various levels of management throughout the global organization. This includes direct interaction with the Corporate Controller, CFO, global business unit general managers and controllers, and other functional management.
Knowledge of business acquisitions, revenue recognition and lease accounting.
Frequently interacts with company’s external auditors in evaluating technical accounting positions and public disclosure matters.
Provide technical updates and training as necessary to the global finance organization as well as other corporate functions.
Assist in preparation of summaries and analysis for the audit committee, board and investor presentations.
Preparation of technical accounting memos, as needed.
Active participation in accurate and timely preparation and review of financial reports and SEC filings on Form 10-K and 10-Q.
Compiles 10Q / 10K support schedules and footnotes; coordinates information from others and maintains support that ties to the final report.
Assist in the analysis of financial results for quarterly MD& A disclosures.
Work directly with independent auditors for their audit and reviews of SEC filings.
Effective and efficient maintenance of tie-out support electronically.
Effective, proficient support of accounting department and various reporting and analytical projects.
Other duties/projects as assigned.
BA/BS in Accounting and CPA credentials are required combined with 3-5+ years of big 4 experience or a combination of public accounting and industry SEC Reporting and/or technical accounting experience.
SOX internal control assessments (Section 404) experience
Candidate must possess first-rate analytical, quantitative and social skills
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Strong familiarity with SEC Reporting
ASC 606 experience desired
Form 10-Q experience
Knowledge of ASC 740
Foundational knowledge in Form 10-K
Proficient in ERP systems
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Proficiency with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Strong communication and social skills
Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
