Description

Robert Half is looking for a cost accountant to join our client! The Cost Accountant is a critical role responsible for the ongoing analysis of product cost, development of new product cost and margin analysis. This role will also establish customer pricing by working closely with the sales teams and senior financial management team. Responsibilities

  • Design a cost accounting system, and manage the documents and records of the organization- Prepare and complete internal cost audits

  • Generate costs and cost saving ideas based on analysis

  • Assist in audits and general ledger preparation

  • Plan projects and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor usage, waste

  • Approximate costs for new and proposed products- Execute standardized costing methodology for all domestic plants

  • Generate reports comparing production costs to standard costs and analyze manufacturing costs

  • Interpret data collected and record detailed results

  • Conduct physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program

  • Perform variance analysis, including Purchase Price to Cost variance, cost revaluation, Invoice to PO price variances and work order variances

  • Assemble reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services

  • Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements

  • Record and examine changes in goods and services, and determine the effects on cost

Requirements

  • 5 years of Cost Accounting work experience

  • Understanding of organizational accounting concepts

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or related field

  • Very detail oriented and expert analytical thinking skills

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • Experience utilizing cost management methodologies, activities, and cost pools based on direct and indirect cost rates

  • Aptitude for analyzing financial data and generating accurate reports in a timely manner
