About Us:

This Non-Profit organization has partnered with Robert Half as they look to hire a new CFO to take over! This is replacing a long-standing CFO who will be transitioning into retirement. This non-profit is dedicated to helping individuals in the local community gain independence and build tangible skills. They are committed to making a positive impact throughout Connecticut and are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their leadership team and help them achieve their financial and strategic goals.

Job Summary:

The CFO will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the organization, ensuring financial stability, and driving the financial strategy and planning. The ideal candidate will have a strong business acumen, excellent leadership skills, and a deep commitment to their mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies that support the organization’s mission and goals.

  • Provide financial forecasting, budget planning, and financial reporting to the CEO and Board of Directors.

  • Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements.

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage cash flow and forecasting, ensuring availability of funds as needed.

  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the Board of Directors.

  • Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with the CEO and department heads.

  • Monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding non-profit financial activities.

  • Oversee grant management and reporting, ensuring that grant funds are utilized in compliance with the grant agreement and that accurate financial reports are submitted to funders on time.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that supports professional growth and development.

  • Serve as a liaison to the finance committee of the Board of Directors.

  • Present financial information to the Board of Directors and various committees as required.

    Requirements

• Must have a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in a CFO or similar executive role

• Proven expertise in Accounting Software Systems

• Proficient in managing all accounting & operations functions

• Experience in conducting audits

• Proficient in budget processes and capital management

• Ability to perform cash flow analysis and strategic planning

• Experience with operational dashboards and operational oversight

• Excellent leadership and team management skills

• Strong communication and presentation skills

• Proven ability to develop and implement financial and operational strategies

• Demonstrated track record of ethical leadership

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field (MBA or similar qualification preferred)

• Professional certification such as CFA/CPA or similar will be considered a plus.
