Robert Half Assistant Controller in Tucson, Arizona

Description Achievement-oriented Assistant Controllers looking to work with a well-respected company, should apply through Robert Half. The Assistant Controller role will report to the Controller and supervise accounting staff. You will identify issues and resolve problems in this career-building Assistant Controller position. Responsibilities

  • Pinpoint and develop process improvements to streamline reporting and improve team efficiency

  • Supervise the accounting team during the closing process to certify deadlines are met

  • Drive accountability and the meeting of deliverables

  • Come up with relevant and timely reports on financial data analytics like key financial metrics, the monthly flash report, and actual spend against budgets/outlook

  • Prepare a variety of technical accounting analyses, policies, and procedures

  • Sophisticated preparation and coordination of fiscal year-end audits

  • Encourage to ensure a competent, trained staff through goal setting, regular assessment, and development

  • Endorse implementation and confirm adherence to accounting policies and procedures

  • Confirm regular account reconciliation to completion

  • Alternative duties as requested

  • Assist with the preparation of GAAP financial statements, including budgeting and forecasting

  • Backfill for Controller if necessary

  • Classify and develop Ad Hoc financial reports

  • 5+ years of general ledger accounting experience

  • Crucial accounting experience, including as a Bookkeeper preferred

  • Extensive knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems

  • Ability to multitask and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds

  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

  • Deep understanding of journal entries

  • Foundational knowledge in General Journal

  • Journal Entry Preparation experience highly desired

  • Adjusting Journal Entries experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge of general ledger

  • Understanding GAAP and firm accounting policies and procedure
