Description Robert Half is seeking an ambitious Controller to become a vital part at an esteemed services company. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. This full-time position is for a Controller who will work in the Tucson, Arizona region.

Your responsibilities

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed

  • Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports

  • Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

  • Comfortable handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties

  • Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Assess deliverables of self and team to verify they meet client expectations

    • Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills highly desired

    • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

    • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

    • Solid understanding of Analyze Financial Statements

    • Financial Statement experience

    • Subcontractor Bids experience highly desired

    • Proficiency in Annual Operating Budget

    • Subcontract Agreements experience preferred

    • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

    • Skillful in analytical, quantitative and social skills

    • CPA or MBA preferred

    • Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued

    • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment

    • Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

    • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

    • Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
