Robert Half has an opening for a Controller for a client in the Manufacturing industry who is seeking an ambitious candidate to join their reputable company. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, manages the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, analyzes accounting and internal control systems, and guides departmental staff. In addition, your responsibilities will include key decision making and challenging, negotiating and influencing the team. You will join the leadership team in supporting the generation of innovative ideas that are sound and progressive, challenging the status quo, and fostering creativity in your department. This permanent position is for a Controller who will work in the Tulare, California region.

Your responsibilities in this role

  • Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required

  • Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports

  • Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection

  • Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation

  • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis

  • Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Review and revise deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

    Requirements

  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

  • Prior work done in public accounting is desired

  • Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills highly desired

  • CPA/MBA preferred

  • Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Budget forecasting experience

  • Excel Formulas

  • Analyze Financial Statements

  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferred

  • Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
