Robert Half is looking for an Staff Accountant to join an esteemed organization based in the Tuskegee, AL area. In this pivotal role within the department, you will be instrumental in overseeing financial, accounting, and donation support functions to meet both organizational and donor expectations. The Staff Accountant will be tasked with maintaining precise financial records, crafting financial statements, implementing robust cash controls, and delivering comprehensive financial reports. This position offers a contract-to-full-time opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Statement Preparation: Produce accurate and timely financial statements adhering to organizational and regulatory guidelines.

  • Cash Controls: Implement and uphold effective cash management controls to ensure the proper handling and documentation of financial transactions.

  • Donation Support: Manage support services for private donations, encompassing the processing of incoming donations, ensuring donor compliance, and appropriately acknowledging contributions.

  • General Ledger Management: Ensure accurate recording and posting of all transactions to the general ledger.

  • Account Setup: Establish new accounts as necessary and guarantee accurate fund allocation.

  • Systems Management: Utilize accounting systems, particularly Blackbaud, proficiently to manage financial data.

  • Accounting Knowledge: Demonstrate a strong grasp of accounting principles and practices to execute responsibilities effectively.

  • Data Analysis: Utilize MS Office Suite, including Excel and Access, to analyze financial data and generate insightful reports.

  • Supervision: Oversee the work of accounting clerks responsible for inputting gifts and checks, ensuring precision and timeliness.

  • Documentation: Maintain meticulous documentation of financial transactions and processes.

  • Office Support: Provide administrative assistance, including copying and aiding with office duties as required.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Access, and other relevant software.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Supervisory experience is preferred but not required.
