The Payroll Administrator is responsible for the accurate and timely production of payroll for employees. Your responsibilities in this role:

  • Do business with internal business partners, Human Resources, and Information Technology to ensure security protocols for pay systems

  • Guarantee timely processing of payroll in accordance with labor regulations and standard accounting principles

  • Handle quarterly and year-end payroll reports

  • Lend a hand to staff with pay related issues, general questions related to payroll, PTO accruals, wage deductions, and fringe benefits

  • Study fringe benefit reporting, pay practices related to FLSA, and other payroll areas to determine how those practices apply to advise management

  • Evaluate data entered by others in the payroll software to include, but not limited to salary/wage increases, benefit deductions, employee termination dates, and employee leaves of absence under FMLA or other unpaid leave

  • Note voluntary deductions, as well as wage garnishments, pay levies, and other involuntary court-ordered payments in a timely manner, including reporting to the necessary authorities

  • Honor current payroll tax requirements and relevant laws associated with the processing of employee wage data, including payroll taxes, employee federal and state income and social security taxes and other required reporting

  • Improve systems and protocols to direct the collection, calculation and entering of pay data

  • Execute regular payroll reporting as required and assist with financial audits related to pay records and associated general ledger

Requirements

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) experience required

  • Manufacturing experience

  • Certified Payroll experience

  • Good understanding of Payroll Law

  • Foundational knowledge in Prevailing Wage

  • Earlier work involving union payroll

  • General familiarity with Microsoft Excel

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Excel Formulas

  • Adeptness in Microsoft Dynamics GP

  • Payroll systems for 100-500 employees experience highly preferred

  • In-house payroll experience required

  • Union payroll experience

  • Background working with garnishments payroll

  • 5+ years of payroll experience

    • FPC or CPP favored

    • Essential to have high proficiency with spreadsheets

    • Previous involvement in various withholdings, processing liens, and garnishments
