Robert Half Accounts Payable Specialist in Venice, California

Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our consumer goods company on a temporary-to-hire basis. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts payable roles, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. This position will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and payments.

Responsibilities:

  • Process vendor invoices accurately and efficiently, verifying details such as pricing, quantities, and terms.

  • Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documents to ensure proper authorization and approval.

  • Code and enter invoices into the accounting system, ensuring proper general ledger account coding.

  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies or issues in a timely manner.

  • Prepare and process weekly check runs or electronic payments, ensuring adherence to payment terms and discounts.

  • Communicate with vendors regarding payment inquiries, discrepancies, and payment status updates.

  • Assist with month-end closing activities, including accruals and reconciliations related to accounts payable.

  • Maintain organized electronic and physical files of invoices, payments, and other related documentation.

    Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts payable or related finance roles.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.

  • Proficiency in accounting software, with experience in QuickBooks or similar programs preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and invoice processing.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with vendors and internal stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and familiarity with GAAP.
