Robert Half Hybrid Human Resources Generalist in Vernon, California


Are you a self-starter seeking a position that offers plenty of growth? If so, we have a fantastic opportunity to join a growing manufacturing company. You will be part of a four-person HR team for a firm that has roughly 275 employees. You will be responsible for general HR functions and should have a strong understanding of California Labor Law. You will report directly to the head of Human Resources who prides herself on being a mentor and helping people grow their HR career. As the HR Generalist you will handle leaves of absence, employee relations, investigations, benefits administration, performance reviews and other projects. This position requires you to be vaccinated and have a Bachelor's degree. In addition, an HR certification is strongly desired. This is a hybrid position and you will be expected to go onsite two days a week. You can work from three locations in Los Angeles (Vernon/Sante Fe Springs and/or Anaheim). The ideal candidate will have experience working for a large firm where you have interacted with many different facets of human resources. The salary range is up to $85K plus a discretionary bonus.

Your responsibilities

  • Be in charge of administrative and office responsibilities

  • Develop new employee on-boarding orientation materials

  • Explore the internet to locate potential customers

  • Oversee employee database records


  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively throughout all levels of the company

  • HR related experience desired

  • Highly professional and able to use good judgment and maintain a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity

  • Accomplished in office applications and software, as well as Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS)

  • Desire to thrive in scenarios of team-based work or independent tasks, always looking to learn more and take initiative on a number of different projects and tasks

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Labor Employee Relations

  • Knowledge of California Labor Law

  • Proficiency in Family Medical Leave

  • Human Resources (HR) Administration experience

  • Practical knowledge of performance reviews

  • Background working with FMLA

  • Performance management experience highly preferred

  • Employee relations experience highly desired

  • Adeptness in Employee Relations Investigations

  • General familiarity with Disciplinary Action

  • Benefits administration experience

  • Able to maintain an approachable and appropriate attitude when interacting with all levels of personnel in a rapidly changing environment

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree or higher
