Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Maintain work in Progress schedule, produce contract files and prepare monthly entries to record change in activity.
Execute month end accounting close procedures and deliverables (journal entries, bank reconciliations and reports) in compliance with GAAP.
Prepare cash requirements reports for weekly cashflow and monthly reports.
Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, job cost and payroll.
Handle and process all aspects of construction payables, including coding, processing contract award worksheets, and maintenance of the job cost chart of accounts.
Monthly review of job cost activity ensuring consistent and proper coding.
Process contractors payment applications for monthly billings
Assist in the preparation of loan draws.
Prepare monthly Work in Progress reconciliation between Multifamily Construction and Property divisions.
Assist and gathering information for cost certifications.
Assist with preparation of year-end audit review and workpapers.
Assist Corporate Account Manager or Controller with special projects.
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects as requested.
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting or related field
Must have considerable knowledge with basic accounting principles (i.e. journal entries, debits, credits, etc.) and accounting functions. Job cost and construction experience will be key for this position.
3+ years of overall general accounting experience.
Strong proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Program skills required.
Experience with SAGE a plus.
Requires excellent analytical ability, problem solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in teams.
Accounting operations of the company include:
Communicate routinely on a variety of job-related topics including bonding, insurance, cash flow as well as contract agreements.
Participate in the formation and implementation of company financial plans. Work with outside accounting/financial firms on monthly close-out procedures.
Creating new accounting/operations procedures to prepare and manage rapidly growing entities and the evolving business structure.
Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends in written accounting procedures.
Work collaboratively and build effective relationships with the design team, builder, site operations and some directly managed vendors.
Ability to work in a face paced environment.
Closing Processes, Month End Close, Journal Entries, Account Reconciliation, Cash Reconciliations, Bank Reconciliations, Job Cost, Contractual Obligations, Coding Compliance, Construction Loans, Degree in Accounting or Finance.
