Description
Seeking a work/life balance role at an established, stable non-profit organization? My client is seeking a Controller who could directly support the Executive Director.
We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Controller to play a vital role in our financial health and stability. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and safeguarding our financial assets.
Responsibilities:
Manage all financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and grant accounting.
Prepare timely and accurate financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and non-profit accounting standards.
Oversee the month-end closing process and ensure all reconciliations are completed accurately.
Manage grant budgets and ensure compliance with grant regulations for restricted funds.
Analyze financial data and prepare reports for management and the Board of Directors.
Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
Oversee accounts payable processing and ensure timely payments to vendors.
Manage payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payments to employees.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
Stay up-to-date on relevant tax laws and regulations for non-profit organizations.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar; CPA/public accounting a plus.
8+ years of accounting experience with increased financial responsibilities assigned over time, and at least 2 years in a managerial position is strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulations (GAAP) required.
4+ years of experience in Non-Profit accounting required
Mastery of financial and accounting software and reporting systems; expert in Microsoft Excel
