Description

Robert Half is in search for a Controller. The Controller is responsible for managing 4 staff members and overseeing all accounting and financial operations for the company, a reputable homebuilder based in Walnut Creek, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

Key member of management team answering to Ownership and involved with all financial functions of the company.

  • Supervise, direct, and guide the accounting staff.

  • Oversee all daily accounting operations including billing, financial statements, general ledger, payroll, budgeting, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.

  • Lead the coordination and preparation of budgets and financial forecasts and report variances. Direct all internal and external reporting.

  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.

  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance.

  • Supports month-end and year-end close process.

  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.

  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

  • Liaise with our Operations team and provide financial insights and reporting on project profitability, cash flow, and other key financial metrics.

  • Assist with land acquisition activities, including financial modelling, debt/equity structuring and feasibility.

  • Additional controller duties as necessary.

  • This position will require occasional travel to Reno, NV.

    Requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven working experience as a Financial controller.

  • 7+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.

  • Degree in Accounting.

  • CPA, CMA or MBA preferred.

  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.

  • Experience in real estate industry – specifically production homebuilding. Property Management and Commercial real estate exposure also helpful.

  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.

  • Strong organizational and management skills.
