Description
Robert Half is in search for a Controller. The Controller is responsible for managing 4 staff members and overseeing all accounting and financial operations for the company, a reputable homebuilder based in Walnut Creek, CA.
Key Responsibilities:
Key member of management team answering to Ownership and involved with all financial functions of the company.
Supervise, direct, and guide the accounting staff.
Oversee all daily accounting operations including billing, financial statements, general ledger, payroll, budgeting, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.
Lead the coordination and preparation of budgets and financial forecasts and report variances. Direct all internal and external reporting.
Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
Supports month-end and year-end close process.
Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Liaise with our Operations team and provide financial insights and reporting on project profitability, cash flow, and other key financial metrics.
Assist with land acquisition activities, including financial modelling, debt/equity structuring and feasibility.
Additional controller duties as necessary.
This position will require occasional travel to Reno, NV.
Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Proven working experience as a Financial controller.
7+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
Degree in Accounting.
CPA, CMA or MBA preferred.
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
Experience in real estate industry – specifically production homebuilding. Property Management and Commercial real estate exposure also helpful.
Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
Strong organizational and management skills.
