Description My client is a publicly traded higher education organization that is looking to bring on two Accounting Manager level employees to their staff. This role will report into the Senior Manager of Accounting. In this role, you will be responsible for leading daily operations, including preparing and/or reviewing appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger system, preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, assisting with regulatory reporting as applicable, and related duties. Preferably, you should be able to establish and scale company accounting and finance operations. This Accounting Manager role is a full-time employment opportunity, based in the northern Virginia area and offers significant flex and remote working capabilities

This position provides assistance to the Senior Manager of Accounting through the delegation of certain reviews and tasks. Assist in the preparation of the audit and/or ad hoc projects on an as needed basis Responsible for managing two staff accountants in the completion of tasks Responsible for completing and reviewing various bank and balance sheet account reconciliations Responsible for monitoring & reviewing the reconciled prepaid & accrual accounts Responsible for reviewing and approving certain journal entries Responsible for performing various business process controls Analyze financial data in order to prepare various journal entries Responsible for maintaining a contract matrix to ensure that related expenses are properly recorded in the GL Assist in compliance with SOX controls Requirements Education: From an accredited institution; Bachelor’s degree required with a concentration in Accounting preferred Certificates, licenses and registrations: CPA preferred not required Work Experience: 6 - 10 years of progressive Accounting experience Ability to recognize, evaluate, and resolve problems effectively Account analysis experience Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is valuable Solid technical skills Experience within a publicly traded organization or experience within a publicly traded company through a client base in public accounting.
