Robert Half Chief Financial Officer/CFO in Washington, District Of Columbia

Description

Our client, a highly visible non-profit organization with national operations and a meaningful and enduring mission, is searching for their new CFO. Reporting to their President, the CFO will be a key member of the Executive Team. The CFO will lead and manage financial strategy as well as all day-to-day finance and accounting operations. This critical CFO position will also work with the executive team to execute the organization’s strategic planning processes and lead the evolution of finance and accounting and related systems to support organizational growth and mitigate risk. The core duties for this fulfilling and challenging CFO role will include:

• Partner closely with the President and executive team regarding financial strategy

• Responsibility for the day-to-day finance and accounting functions as well as leadership of their large finance and accounting team

• Collaborate with executive officers and senior staff to plan the overall financial strategy of the organization.

• Responsible for the financial planning for all finances and assets, including developing investment strategies, budgeting, risk management, and financial analysis.

• Managing cash forecasting and management as well as oversee the annual budgeting process and annual audit

• Leading the strategic financial planning and analysis effort as well as provide analysis and guidance to the executive team

• Working closely with the executive team on tracking organizational performance against strategic goals

• Oversee the organization's financial regulatory compliance with agencies such as the Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Service

• Managing the preparation and presentation of financial reports, projections and analyses to the executive team, Board and other pertinent audiences

• Leading the financial evaluation and due diligence of potential growth opportunities in consultation with the executive team and the Board

• Managing the relationships with financial institutions, investment advisors and other outside consultants

• Serving as liaison for financial issues to the executive team and participating in regular Board and committee meetings

• Overseeing compliance in all aspects of the organization – including contract review, reporting requirements, business licenses and audits

• Providing financial oversight and perspective on contracts which the organization may enter

Requirements

• 15 or more years of experience including a financial leadership position with direct supervision of financial staff within a non-profit organization

• MBA/advanced degree in business or finance and CPA are preferred

• Excellent written and oral communication with proven financial and strategic presentation skills to the C-Suite and Board level

• Previous experience as the lead liaison for outside financial audits

• Proven skills in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling and analysis

• Prior audit experience within a CPA firm is desirable
