Robert Half Human Resources (HR) Manager in WASHINGTON, District Of Columbia


HR Manager Washington DC area

$70k-78K + bonus. Flex Hybrid schedule. Generous benefits package


  • Execute and provide managerial leadership, expertise on recruitment, compensation, performance management, employee engagement, employee relations, succession planning, and policy formulation, etc.

  • Resolve all HR grievances with professionalism, confidentiality and empathy aimed at making all parties involved feel supported while finding the best resolution for the company and employees

  • Strong working knowledge of federal employment laws such as the FMLA, ADA, FLSA, as well as knowledge of state and local laws, including pertaining to paid sick leave and paid family leave, wage, and hour compliance

  • Ensure that managers understand and implement company policies, including disciplinary procedures; hear & resolve employee grievances; counsel managers & employees

  • Conduct termination processes when an employee leaves; conduct & analyze exit interviews; communicate recommendations to management

  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements, conducting investigations, and maintaining records (such as the Employee Handbook, digital personnel records, etc.)

  • Partner with HR & Fin teams on insurance, annual Workers Comp policy renewal, and audits

  • Maintain a centralized resource of company records such as event records for historical data and future planning and all department processes/procedures for sustainability

  • Oversee bi-weekly payroll processing, maintaining, and communicating all updates of payroll processing

  • Oversee PPLO, workers' comp, withholding notices, and any other regulatory agency and compliance needs related to payroll and legal compliances

  • Assists with identifying new, existing, and revised federal, state, county and city employment and labor laws, regulations, and enforcement activity, analyzes cross-company compliance risk and recommends policy and procedural changes to Regional HR Head and respective HR BPs

  • Audit HR function to ensure that established policies and processes in compliance with the most current laws and regulations.

  • Assists in developing training programs pertaining to employment and labor law compliance.

· Bachelor’s degree Business Administration, Labor Relations, Human Resources, or related fields

· 8+ years’ experience as a HR Generalist, Employee or Labor Relations, or related roles HR, compliance, or risk management role

· Strong motivation and inclination for employee engagement at work

· Strong knowledge of relevant laws (e.g., FLSA, ERISA, FMLA)

· Strong knowledge and prior experience of independently conducting investigations and acting on recommendations
