Robert Half Payroll Accountant in Washington, District Of Columbia

Description We are offering a job opportunity in Washington, DC for a Payroll Accountant. The role is within the accounting industry and involves working in an office environment. It's a short term contract role that will require the candidate to handle payroll processing, maintain the general ledger, and perform payroll reconciliations among other duties.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for processing payroll for a considerable number of employees, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

• Tasked with maintaining the general ledger, keeping it up-to-date and correct.

• Expected to handle multi-state payroll, ensuring compliance with each state's laws and regulations.

• Utilize ADP Workforce Now software for payroll processing, optimizing the tool for best results.

• Prepare payroll journal entries as part of the accounting process.

• Perform payroll reconciliations, identifying and resolving any discrepancies found.

• Conduct payroll tax reconciliations, ensuring all taxes are accurately calculated and paid.

• Produce and analyze payroll reports, providing insight into payroll operations.

• Utilize Kronos, Microsoft Excel, and other relevant software to perform tasks effectively.

• Ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner, demonstrating strong time management skills. Requirements • Possess proficiency in Kronos, Kronos Timekeeping System, and Kronos Workforce

• Familiarity with UKG Pro and ADP - Payroll

• Demonstrated experience with Multi-state Payroll and Multistate Payroll is essential

• Must have experience in Payroll, specifically with 101 - 500 Employees

• Proficient with Payroll - Multi-State

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are required

• Previous experience as a Payroll Accountant is preferred

• Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team is essential

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills are required

• Must be able to handle sensitive information with confidentiality

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred

• Relevant certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus

• Familiarity with payroll software and systems is essential

• Must have the ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

• Strong numerical skills and the ability to work with large amounts of data are required

• Knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulations is preferred.
