There's currently a vacancy at a thriving Financial Services company for an experienced Senior Accountant - SEC Reporting on a permanent basis in the DC Metro area. As a Senior Accountant - SEC Reporting, you will be responsible for assisting the VP – SEC Reporting with the preparation of financial reporting, including, but not limited to, 10-Q, 10-K, 8-Ks, proxies, and other SEC filings as needed/required for the firm. The preparation includes the drafting of sections of the Management Discussion and Analysis sections of the 10-Qs/10-K, certain footnote disclosures that meet the SEC reporting standards for public companies, and earnings press releases and presentations. This position will work with external auditors during the audit process. This position will also prepare reporting used to support the maintenance of SEC Independence for the Big 4 auditing firms across the companies private equity complex. Additionally, this role will assist the Firm Financial Reporting Manager with the firm’s centralized fund performance metrics data and related processes, including coordinating fund performance data collection/aggregation across all segments; act as a liaison with Partnership Accounting, Fund Management and Investor Relations to ensure data is complete, accurate and timely; and prepare support for the Firm’s SEC filings, as well as a variety of regular and ad hoc internal reporting. The position will also be working closely with a variety of different groups such as legal, partnership accounting, fund management, FP& A and corporate accounting teams to ensure timely flow of information through the organization to achieve his/her primary responsibilities.
Day to day responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Roll forward quarterly SEC reports for review prior to quarter end
Collaborate with other departments to obtain information necessary to prepare MD& A and footnote disclosures
Assist VP – SEC Reporting in the preparation and review of quarterly earnings press releases and presentations
Assist with external auditor requests / questions during quarterly reviews and annual audit
Address questions/comments on 10-Q / 10-K disclosures from various stakeholders throughout the company
Perform quality control procedures for SEC filings
Prepare 8-K filings as needed/required across all SEC filing entities
Prepare other governmental entity information reports quarterly
Ad hoc reporting projects, as assigned
Assist AVP – Consolidations with management of Wdesk Financial Reporting platform
Compile fund performance metrics to be included in SEC reporting (10Qs/Ks and earnings releases) and public investor presentations
Complete or coordinate a variety of internal ad hoc data requests related to fund performance metrics
Ideal candidates for this Senior Accountant - SEC Reporting will have 2+ years of public accounting (auditing) or financial reporting from a large organization, BS in Accounting or Finance and detail oriented. Requirements - Experience with ERP systems
Strong time management skills preferred
Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes
Great attention to detail
BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
US GAAP experience preferred
Knowledge of financial auditing
Proficiency in SEC Reporting
Financial reporting experience
Sound written and verbal communication skills
Experience in SOX control execution/documentation
Familiarity with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required
2+ years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
