Robert Half International Payroll Administrator in WATERTOWN, New York

Description

Chris Preble from the Syracuse Robert Half Finance and Accounting office has been engaged by a for profit Watertown, NY organization to find their next Payroll Administrator. This organization is open to a Payroll candidate OR a general accountant that is currently doing payroll that has an interest in a position that's a bit more payroll focused.

The Payroll Administrator/General Accountant will be responsible for the payroll duties of about 100 employees. Other duties are below but can be tailored to fit the right candidate they hire. This position has solid benefits, great work life balance and is with a growing organization.

Specific duties include

  • PTO accruals, wage deductions, fringe benefits, general questions related to payroll, and other pay related issues

  • Manage data entered by others in the payroll software to include, but not limited to salary/wage increases, benefit deductions, employee termination dates, and employee leaves of absence under FMLA or other unpaid leave

  • Expand systems and protocols to direct the collection, calculation and entering of pay data

  • Fulfill current payroll tax requirements and relevant laws associated with the processing of employee wage data, including payroll taxes, employee federal and state income and social security taxes and other required reporting

  • Guarantee timely processing of payroll in accordance with labor regulations and standard accounting principles

  • Administer quarterly and year-end payroll reports

  • Operate regular payroll reporting as required and assist with financial audits related to pay records and associated general ledger

  • Record voluntary deductions, as well as wage garnishments, pay levies, and other involuntary court-ordered payments in a timely manner, including reporting to the necessary authorities

  • Analyze pay practices, fringe benefit reporting and other payroll areas and determine how those practices apply to advise management

    Requirements

  • Solid understanding of payroll

  • Solid Excel skills and excellent communication skills
