Robert Half Staff Accountant in Watertown, Wisconsin
Description We are inviting applications for the role of Staff Accountant, based in Watertown, Wisconsin. The position is part of the manufacturing industry and offers a short term contract employment opportunity. The successful candidate will be entrusted with maintaining accurate financial records, managing inter-company accounts, and supporting various accounting operations.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure daily cash journals and cash reconciliations are carried out accurately.
• Generate weekly cash balance reports and contribute to cash forecasts by analyzing and summarizing cash trends.
• Monitor and maintain fixed asset ledgers for legal entities in Canada and the US, including processing additions from the CIP accounts, managing disposals, and movements within the fixed asset system.
• Ensure compliance with J-Sox controls, process monthly depreciation and amortization, and manage annual fixed assets audit.
• Handle month-end processing for Canada and US legal entities, including processing journal entries, analyzing account balances for accuracy, preparing variance analyses, and financial statement and report preparation.
• Oversee the account reconciliation process and ensure all account reconciliations are performed timely and in accordance with J-Sox controls.
• Prepare internal financial statements and schedules, including analysis for all expenses cross-charged to other regions.
• Manage Inter-Company receivable and payable accounts, including processing/completing charge-backs to various accounts, procuring confirmation statements from all intercompany debtors, reconciling balances to the general ledger, and signing all confirmations from intercompany creditors.
• Provide backup to other key accounting personnel, and participate in cross-training and follow-up training as necessary.
• Assist in various projects as assigned by the Controller or Director of Accounting, and participate in annual financial and internal control audits. Requirements • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
• Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role
• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions
• Demonstrated ability to perform Bank Reconciliations accurately
• Thorough understanding of the General Ledger
• Expertise in preparing and posting Journal Entries
• Experience with Month End Close procedures
• Proficiency in QuickBooks software
• Experience with JDE EnterpriseOne software
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong time management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines
• Willingness to stay updated with industry trends and changes in regulations.
