Major responsibilities

  • Manage employee deductions and other liabilities

  • Calculate employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments to establish payroll liabilities

  • Resolve payroll discrepancies via information collection and analysis

  • Preparing reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages

  • Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines

  • Draft relevant year-end reports, as well as weekly, monthly, and quarterly ones, for department heads

  • Secure confidential payroll operation information and maintain employee confidence

  • Reviewing and verifying source documents

  • Supporting all internal and external audits related to payroll

  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned

  • Proper payroll information maintenance by collecting, calculating, and entering data

  • Understand and report necessary changes to payroll operations by maintaining established policies and procedures

  • Maintain all updates of payroll records by tracking changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers

  • Answer questions and requests related to payroll information Requirements - Proficient with high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc.

  • HR Payroll System experience preferred

  • Strong familiarity with Full Cycle Payroll

  • Comprehensive knowledge of benefits payroll

  • bi-Monthly Payroll experience required

  • Well-informed in basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen

  • Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements

  • 2+ years of strong payroll experience

  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to retain complex work directions

  • Data entry, document management, file creation and previous records experience required

  • Prior experience working with accounting software

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills

  • Preference will be given to Certified Payroll Professional

  • Knowledge of internal controls
