Robert Half is looking for an experienced Payroll candidate capable of supporting the Payroll department at a growing company in the Construction industry. The role will be based in the West Chester, Ohio region. This challenging position calls for a candidate with a strong sense of initiative looking to advance their career path and work alongside an industry leader. The position seeks a candidate who is skilled in communicating with both the internal team and outside customers while being part of a dynamic, fast-growing team. The Payroll Specialists' job duties consist of data entry, reconciliation of timecards, processing payroll, paycheck distribution and providing statements to various departments. This Payroll Specialist opportunity is offered on a contract / temporary to hire basis.

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate processing and recording of the company payroll, provide timely and accurate financial information, participate in daily data entry payroll processing. This position will make sure that all payroll procedures are followed, and that payroll is processed in a timely manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Enters all new hires into the payroll system and terminates all finished employees in the payroll system

-Process garnishments and child support orders -Process assigned payrolls for multiple locations in multiple states

-Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports

-Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely

-Assists other team members with their payrolls as needed

-Stay current with government regulations that impact employee taxation

-Ensure Employment Verifications are processed in a timely manner

-Demonstrates knowledge of federal, state and local regulations regarding payroll and benefits, including COBRA, FLSA and FMLA

-Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns

Requirements

-3-5 years payroll experience Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred Experience with ADP Workforce Now Preferred

-1-2 years’ experience processing multi state payroll

-Knowledge and experience with federal, local and multi-state payroll laws

-Demonstrate aptitude in business math and accounting

-Knowledge of Prevailing Wage Preferred

-Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and the ability to stay focused

-Ability to consistently report to work on time prepared to perform duties of the position.

-Working knowledge of payroll best practices

-Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations

-Strong work ethic and team player

-High degree of professionalism

-Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material

-Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills
