The Senior Agile Coach leads teams in all facets of Agile frameworks. Their role is to ensure standards are set and met across teams and projects; from staff training, to facilitation of the various methodologies, to communication and reporting. The Senior Agile Coach works at both the team and program level, as well as with senior leadership, to facilitate the adoption of agile practices and improve the maturity of team quality and delivery.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

-Facilitate agile ceremonies for several teams simultaneously: large group and team product backlog refinement and planning, product backlog estimation, sprint planning, daily stand-up, sprint review and retrospective.

-Train new teams in the fundamental principles and values of Agile, including Scrum and/or Kanban frameworks; develop and refine training materials.

-Promote an agile mindset through the development of internal teaching events and materials that aim to coach and train leadership, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and team members.

-Consistently achieve goals by fostering a culture where teams are accountable for delivery of the items in the backlog; ensure teams maintain focus on quality and continuous delivery as they progress to completion of a deliverable.

-Build high-performing teams by employing a servant leadership style and leading by example; motivate and lead teams by instilling a mindset of collaboration and continuous process improvement

-Encourage the team to assess obstacles, brainstorm solutions, and apply knowledge gained through prior experience, education or training.

-Utilize creative conflict resolution techniques to minimize conflict within the team or between teams across the organization.

-Develop, implement and/or maintain information radiators, external communication tools, status reports and executive dashboards.

-Support and educate Product Owners to refine and clarify the product backlog in support of deliverables.

-Assess team maturity and mentor the team where opportunities for improvement exist; rate of change should occur at a sustainable pace for the team and organization.

-Coordinate with other team Product Owners and team members to share information and aid in the removal of impediments and account for upcoming dependencies.

-Create, launch and facilitate agile collaborative groups: Communities of Practice, Scrum of Scrums and Incubator teams.



-Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent of education and experience

-Five years of experience applying Scrum and /or Kanban practices, and two years of experience in a full time Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or similar role.

-Demonstrate servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and transparency.

-Scrum Master certification (PSM I, CSM, A-CSM, SAFe Scrum Master)

-Knowledge of Jira to capture user stories and track team progress.

-Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and training skills.

-Excellent interpersonal skills including organizational, team building, issue resolution, and customer relationship management.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Knowledge of agile frameworks: XP, Kanban, SAFe, LeSS, Crystal, FDD.

-Knowledge and/or experience with agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games.

-Servant leadership skills: facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment and transparency.

-Experience being on multiple Scrum teams with a wide range of diversity (team size, organization, cultures, multiple locations).

-Track record of agile education: training, conferences, user groups, self-study.

-Comfortable using and presenting content to the team and leadership.

-Ability to apply game-oriented facilitation techniques and tools.

-Agile Coaching certification (ICP – ACC, ICE – AC, ACO – ATF).
