The permanent Controller position is situated in the West Sacramento, California area. Planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff will be essential for this role. You will succeed in this position if you can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Key responsibilities

  • Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports

  • Perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required

  • Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

  • Ensure deliverables of self and team meet client expectations

    Requirements

  • Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Prior work done in public accounting is desired

  • Command of Microsoft Excel

  • Proficiency in Leadership Skills

  • Top notch analytical, quantitative and social skills
