Description
We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a Payroll Clerk I, based in WESTERVILLE, Ohio. This role is pivotal within our client's team, focusing on the accurate processing of payroll information and responding to employee inquiries. The ideal candidate will have experience in payroll functions and troubleshooting issues within a computerized payroll system.
Responsibilities
• Accurately input data from various sources such as time sheets, production records, or individual time cards into the computerized payroll system.
• Ensure accurate and efficient processing of payroll transactions, including federal, state, and local tax payments.
• Answer and resolve employee questions and issues related to payroll in a timely and detail oriented manner.
• Monitor and maintain accurate customer credit records and take appropriate action when necessary.
• Adhere to established practices and procedures relevant to payroll processing.
• Balance payroll runs accurately, ensuring all payments are correctly calculated and disbursed.
• Work under immediate supervision, following pre-established guidelines to perform daily job functions.
• Exercise independent judgment when necessary, within the scope of the role.
• Report to a supervisor or manager, providing them with regular updates about payroll operations and issues.
Requirements • Proficiency in payroll procedures and practices
• Experience in payroll functions and payment processing
• Ability to supervise and improve production process
• Proven skills in troubleshooting payroll related issues
• Knowledge of time sheets and time cards management
• Familiarity with local tax regulations affecting payroll
• Ability to exercise independent judgment in decision making
• Strong understanding of general payroll practices
• Experience in handling confidential information responsibly
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
• Excellent numerical skills and ability to spot errors
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in using payroll software and systems
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
