Robert Half Payroll Administrator in Westfield, Indiana

Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Administrator to join our client's team in the construction and contracting industry, located in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role involves processing and managing payroll systems, with a specific focus on union and multi-state payroll. You will be an essential part of our team, assisting in streamlining and improving existing payroll processes, ensuring accurate wages, and handling various administrative tasks related to payroll.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain confidentiality related to personal, financial, and proprietary information.

• Assist in streamlining and improving existing payroll processes.

• Create tracking tools for quick access to important information.

• Verify accuracy of new hire paperwork and complete E-verify and I-9 verifications.

• Process weekly field payroll and field reimbursements.

• Prepare and deliver certified payroll that will pass union audits.

• Process payroll taxes on a weekly and quarterly basis.

• Coordinate pay with field staff and process final paychecks.

• Update pension spreadsheets and process monthly union dues payments.

• Process W-2’s annually and perform year-end financial close support activities.

• Appropriately process benefits and handle multi-state payroll tax filings.

Requirements • Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in a payroll administration role within the construction or contractor industry

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data management and reporting

• Ability to handle payroll for unionized workers

• Extensive knowledge and experience in multi-state payroll processing

• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax and labor laws related to payroll

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with staff and external agencies

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive employee information

• Proven organizational skills, able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred

• Certification from the American Payroll Association (APA) as a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus

• Experience with payroll software and systems is desired.
