We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a meticulous and organized Accounts Payable Specialist in the Healthcare industry. The position is based in WESTPORT, Connecticut, United States. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for managing vendor bills, processing checks, and updating vendor information in vendor tables, among other duties.

Responsibilities:

• Handle incoming vendor bills, ensuring they are sorted, coded, and entered into the accounting system promptly and accurately.

• Validate all necessary approval signatures before data entry.

• Review General Ledger account coding of vendor bills to guarantee accuracy.

• Update vendor tables to reflect changes in payment addresses and complete missing information.

• Enter vouchers into batches, making sure proper approval of expense is obtained before posting batches in the accounting system.

• Coordinate vendor bill approval with Office Managers in various communities.

• Assist with research and review of open and paid payables.

• Handle all vendor inquiries via email and telephone.

• Scan vendor bills and attach electronic files to vendor vouchers.

• Sort, stuff, and mail vendor payments, ensuring timely and accurate payment processing.

• Support the AP Manager and assist the Accounting staff with various projects as needed.

Skills: Microsoft Excel, Accounting Functions, Accounts Payable (AP), Check Processing, Data Entry, Coding Invoices, Manage Vendor Relationships.

Requirements • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is needed for data analysis and financial reporting.

• Familiarity with standard accounting functions, including but not limited to, maintaining the general ledger and preparing financial statements.

• Demonstrable experience with Accounts Payable (AP) processes and systems is required.

• Prior experience with check processing is beneficial.

• Strong data entry skills are necessary for accurate and efficient information input.

• Knowledge of coding invoices for the correct categorization of expenses is essential.

• Ability to manage vendor relationships effectively, ensuring timely payments and resolving any issues or discrepancies.

• Healthcare industry experience is preferred, particularly within hospitals or social assistance settings.

• Must be capable of working independently and as part of a team.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for liaising with vendors and internal departments.

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in all work is required.

• Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.

• Professional certification, such as Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP), is a plus.
