Robert Half has a career-building opportunity for a Staff Accountant with experience and skill to join a renowned Retail company on a permanent basis. In this role, the Staff Accountant is in charge of preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will also be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will lend your skills to developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. This position is very complex as it plays a part in the production of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Contribute to the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Manage reconciliation, depreciation, and fixed asset ledgers
Compose journal entries and conduct the month end close with minimal supervision
Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Special projects and impromptu reporting, upon request
In-depth knowledge of reconciling month end balance sheet accounts
Arrange schedules for capital lease and monthly payments
Assist with the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks
Periodically maintain and reconcile journal entries
Assemble analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management reporting
Play a part in a variety of department-wide initiatives
Maintain intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation
Organize and review a variety of financial data, reporting it in a way that is useful and understandable
3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Current and relevant ERP system experience
Strong analytical capabilities and discernment
General familiarity with Bank Deposit
Post Journal Entries experience
Solid understanding of month end closings
Adeptness in Accounts Receivable (AR)
Financial reporting experience highly desired
Foundational knowledge in Post Journal Entries
Bank reconciliations experience preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of Sales Commision
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail
