Robert Half Cost Accountant in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania

Description

If you picture yourself doing great things that make a difference in the lives of others, our client is an industry-leading commercial construction/real estate seeking a cost accountant/analyst for a newly created role in a newly created family office. You will work with others who share your passion for solving complex challenges and making a real difference.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities of the successful cost accountant will include:

Cost Accounting:

  • Cost coding and analysis

  • Costing and modeling for all active projects

  • Determining cost per square foot of current and potential buildings

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for construction projects.

  • Provide detailed variance analysis and explanations for budgeted versus actual costs.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and industry regulations.

  • Produce an executive report monthly sharing results.

Project Costing and Analysis:

  • Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost estimates.

  • Monitor project costs and analyze variances to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.

  • Work closely with project managers to track project progress and financial performance.

General Ledger Management:

  • Oversee the general ledger accounting process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close procedures.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of construction and project -related transactions.

  • Review and approve invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports related to construction activities.

Cash Flow Management:

  • Monitor cash flow projections and manage cash disbursements for construction projects.

  • Coordinate with treasury and project teams to ensure adequate funding for project expenses.

  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and analyze liquidity needs for ongoing projects.

    Requirements • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Familiarity with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning

• Understanding of Accounting Functions

• Experience with Budget Processes

• Knowledge in Cost Accounting

• Ability to perform Cost Analysis

• Understanding of Cost Variance

• Expertise in Variance Analysis

• Experience in Benchmarking

• Knowledge in Lean Manufacturing within the Real Estate & Property industry

• Cost Accountant job function experience is preferred
