Robert Half Internal Auditor in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania

Description

We are looking for an Internal Auditor for a well-established, best in class company located in the WILKES BARRE area, Pennsylvania, 18705. This newly created role (due to growth) involves conducting audits across various areas including financial, operational, internal controls, and compliance. The Internal Auditor will be responsible for improving company-wide risk assessments, implementing processes to protect against fraud and theft, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and statutes, and supervising company workflows to maintain proper internal controls.

Job Summary:

The Internal Auditor will conduct audits across financial, operational, internal controls, and compliance areas, prepare and present results with applicable recommendations for improvement, and implement those recommendations. This role supports company-wide risk assessments, implements processes to protect against fraud and theft, ensures compliance with relevant laws and statutes, and supervises company workflows to maintain proper internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

Audit Execution:

  • Conduct financial, operational, internal controls, and compliance audits.

  • Develop audit programs and testing procedures relevant to risk and test objectives.

  • Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls.

Reporting and Recommendations:

  • Prepare and present audit findings and recommendations for improvement to management.

  • Work with management to implement audit recommendations and monitor their progress.

Risk Assessment:

  • Support company-wide risk assessments and identify areas of risk.

  • Develop and implement audit plans to address identified risks.

Fraud Prevention and Asset Protection:

  • Implement processes and procedures to protect the organization’s assets from fraud and theft.

  • Conduct investigations as necessary to address suspected fraud or theft.

Compliance:

  • Ensure the company is in compliance with relevant laws, statutes, and regulatory requirements.

  • Prepare compliance reports and ensure accurate documentation.

Internal Controls:

  • Study and review various accounting records to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Supervise company workflows to ensure proper internal controls are in place and functioning effectively.

Process Improvement:

  • Participate in and improve the audit process to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Provide training and guidance to staff on internal controls and audit processes.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required; CPA certification.

  • Minimum of 5 years of corporate or public accounting audit experience.

  • Exposure to manufacturing or construction industries is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated ability to participate in and improve an audit process.

  • Strong knowledge of internal controls, risk assessment, and audit standards.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with ERP systems and audit software.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
