Robert Half Sr. Accountant/Supervisor - Family Office in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania

Description

We are searching for a senior accountant or accounting supervisor for a unique and exciting newly created opportunity! Our client, a newly created family office working in tandem with a well-established, best in class local firm seeks a senior accountant or accounting supervisor to join their team in this newly created role! We are looking for an individual who is organized, detail-oriented and has excellent problem-solving skills. This position provides a unique opportunity to assist the family office across several different areas as the needs beyond standard accounting support into investments, real assets, estate and insurance planning, philanthropic giving, and business consulting, among others.

Responsibilities of the successful senior accountant or accounting supervisor in the family office include:

  • Maintain general ledgers for part of the parent company, complex trusts, investment entities, family partnerships, and other operating companies.

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports to present an overview to the family.

  • Investment accounting

  • Assist with annual cash flow and tax forecasting process

  • Assist with insurance needs

  • Facilitation and preparation of account paperwork for new banking and investment accounts

  • Trust administration in accordance with trust terms

  • Assist with financial planning and analysis

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts

  • Communicate with the family members on projects, philanthropic interests and investment ideas as needed.

    Requirements

Job Requirements for the successful candidate for the senior/supervisor position in accounting within a family office setting:

  • 5+ years of accounting experience – public/private mix ideal.

  • Family Office experience a plus

  • Bachelor’s in accounting

  • Familiarity with investments

  • Proficient in Excel

  • CPA a must (may consider in process)

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.

• Must have at least five years of experience in accounting or related field.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is necessary.

• Demonstrated experience in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations is required.

• Familiarity with General Ledger and Journal Entries is essential.

• Experience with Month End Close process is needed.

• Knowledge of Trust accounting is important.

• Experience in Philanthropy, Financial Planning, and Family Office is advantageous.

• Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team is required.

• Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines is required.

• Professional certification such as CPA is a plus.
