This Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania area-based position is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work. Preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation and being responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close will be essential for this role. This position will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules reporting processes. You might be our ideal candidate, if you have a complex understanding of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets.
Key responsibilities
Play a part in a variety of department-wide initiatives
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Conduct month end close and compose journal entries with minimal supervision
Survey and organize various financial data, reporting it in a useful and understandable manner
Regular maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries
Maintain intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation
Maintain depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
Become well-versed in month end balance sheet account reconciliations
Assemble analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management reporting
Prepare monthly financial close workbooks to support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process
Upon request, take part in special projects and impromptu reporting
Assemble journal entries and thorough account reconciliations that include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll Requirements - Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Efficient in ERP systems
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
experienced organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Expertise in general ledger
Bank reconciliations experience
JD Edwards EnterpriseOne experience
Experience with Microsoft Excel
Deep understanding of journal entries
Ability to meet deadlines
