Based in the Willmar, Minnesota area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position. You will succeed in this position if you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services will be essential for this role, and a creative type who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Your responsibilities in this role
Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
Assess deliverables of self and team to verify they meet client expectations
Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis
Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed Requirements - Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
CPA or MBA preferred
Demonstrated ability in exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Comprehensive knowledge of month end closings
Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
