Robert Half Accounting Manager/Supervisor in Winchester, Virginia


Manufacturer with well over $100M in annual revenue is continuing its progressive growth and has an opening for a newly created Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager will report into the CFO, supervise a small staff and hold primary oversight over day-to-day accounting activities, sales tax, internal controls, and multiple areas of financial analysis. This is a tremendous opportunity to be the right hand to the CFO, and get exposure and experience in a wide array of responsibilities. They embrace and are always striving to improve processes, systems and efficiencies. My client is extremely stable having tripled in revenue over the last 15 years and projecting to double in the next 3+ years. Currently, the CFO is the only person with costing experience and he would like someone who can enhance their costing and analysis within the organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the general accounting functions.

• Oversees preparation of financial reports, account reconciliations, margin and costing reports, analyses, sales tax reporting, tax filings, and related tax documents, as well as budgets.

• Ensures that the reported financial results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.

• Assists with tax planning throughout the fiscal year and with the annual corporate tax return.

• Review accounts to ensure accuracy of financial statements.

• Presents recommendations to management regarding financial objectives as well as improvements to processes and policies.

• Coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.

• Reviews and maintains internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.

• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.

• Performs other related projects and duties as necessary.

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting or related area of study

  • Manufacturing and costing experience (REQUIRED)

  • GL, month end close experience

  • multi-state sales tax

  • comfortable working in an environment that will require you to be both hands on and strategic

  • Excel skills to include pivot tables, VLOOKUPs and other data manipulation/formulas

  • Must be within a commutable distance of Winchester VA. This role is mostly in the office but does offer some work from home.
