The Controller position is a full-time opportunity in the Lubbock, Texas area. The ideal candidate for this position can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Candidates who can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo, will be preferred for this position. How you will make an impact

  • Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Meet client expectations by reviewing deliverables of self and team to make sure they meet client satisfaction

  • Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash

  • Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

  • Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required

  • Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Ability to effectively interact, verbally and in writing

  • Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required

  • Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

  • Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

  • Earlier work involving cash flow management

  • Income Statements experience highly preferred

  • Financial reporting experience desired

  • Payroll experience preferred

  • Cash Flow Forecasts experience highly valued

  • Practical knowledge of Balance Sheet Reviews

  • Comprehension of Corporate Tax

  • Internal Control experience highly desired

  • Expertise in Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Good understanding of KPI Reporting

  • Adeptness in Balance Sheet Account

  • Background working with cash flow management

  • General familiarity with Balance Sheets

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Balance Sheet Reconciliation

  • Deep understanding of Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Previous experience working with budget forecasting

  • Prior work done in public accounting is desired

  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
