Robert Half Property Accountant in Woodbury, New York

Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Accountant to join our team. The candidate will have the responsibility of overseeing the financials for our real estate portfolio. The primary goals of this position are maintaining the accuracy of our financial data, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to our financial goals

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for commercial properties, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

  • Assist in the development and management of property budgets and forecasts, providing insights and recommendations to optimize financial performance.

  • Review lease agreements and ensure accurate recording of lease terms, rents, and expenses.

  • Maintain general ledger accounts and reconcile discrepancies to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.

  • Implement and monitor internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting regulations and company policies.

  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights into property performance, identifying opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.

  • Serve as a liaison with tenants regarding financial matters, addressing inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.

  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned, contributing financial expertise and insights to support business objectives.

  • Utilize skills in Microsoft Excel, Yardi, Financial Reporting, Financial Analysis, and General Accounting to carry out tasks efficiently.

    Requirements

  • BA degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.

  • Proven experience as a Property Accountant.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and the ability to adhere to tight schedules.

  • Proficient in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Excel.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Detail-oriented and precision-focused.

  • Ability to multi-task and manage various projects simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of tax laws and regulations related to properties.

  • CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
