Job Overview:
As a Senior Tax Preparer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely completion of tax returns for clients. Your responsibilities will extend beyond basic tax preparation, as you will be expected to provide guidance for tax planning, stay current on tax laws and regulations, and assist in resolving complex tax issues. This role requires a deep understanding of tax codes, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Preparation:
Prepare and review individual, business, and corporate tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
Handle complex tax scenarios, including investments, multiple income sources, and various deductions.
Client Interaction:
Interact with clients to gather necessary information, answer tax-related queries, and provide expert advice on tax planning.
Build and maintain strong client relationships, demonstrating professionalism and a commitment to client satisfaction.
Research and Analysis:
Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring the firm and clients are compliant with the latest requirements.
Conduct research on complex tax issues and provide recommendations to resolve them.
Quality Control:
Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy of tax returns and compliance with regulatory standards.
Review the work of junior preparers to identify and rectify errors or inconsistencies.
Team Collaboration:
Collaborate with other departments, such as accounting and financial planning, to provide comprehensive financial services to clients.
Work closely with management to improve processes and contribute to the overall success of the tax department.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
Proven experience as a tax preparer, with a focus on individual and business tax returns.
In-depth knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax preparation.
Experience with complex tax scenarios and high-net-worth clients is a plus.
