Robert Half Assistant Controller in YORK, South Carolina
Our growing manufacturing client is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their team. The Assistant Controller is a critical role responsible for the ongoing analysis of product cost, development of new product cost and margin analysis. You will also work closely with the sales teams and senior financial management team to establish customer pricing. Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings
Create reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services
Generate reports comparing production costs to standard costs and analyze manufacturing costs
Decide costs of business activity, including raw material purchases, inventory, and labor usage, waste
Review changes in goods or services provided in order to determine what effect it has on the cost
Create and manage the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization
Log a detailed record of collected data
Perform variance analysis such as Purchase Price to Cost variance, cost revaluation, Invoice to PO price variances and work order variances
Perform internal cost audits
Estimate new and proposed product costs
Support audits and general ledger preparation
Monitor the cycle count program and conduct physical inventories
Implement standardized costing methodology for all domestic plants
Follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
We are looking for you to offer the following:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
3+ years cost accounting experience required
Ability to complete complex tasks with minimal supervision
Highly proficient with MS Office, primarily Excel
Accounting software experience, i.e., JD Edwards and Business Intelligence (BI)
Management skills – ability to foster teamwork
