Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our client's team on a temporary to permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for multi-client full charge bookkeeping and seasonal tax preparation. This role requires strong organizational skills, a thorough understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full Charge Bookkeeping:

  • Manage all aspects of bookkeeping for multiple clients, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, and bank reconciliations.

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.

  • Generate financial statements and reports for clients on a regular basis.

  • Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.

  • Tax Preparation:

  • Assist in the preparation of individual and business tax returns during the tax season.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.

  • Conduct tax research as needed to resolve client inquiries and issues.

  • Provide clients with tax planning and advice.

  • Client Relations:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, addressing their accounting and tax-related inquiries.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients through regular communication and exceptional service.

  • Compliance and Reporting:

  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and accounting principles.

  • Ensure all financial practices comply with regulatory requirements and ethical standards.

  • Assist in audits and reviews as necessary.

    Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • CPA or working towards CPA certification is preferred but not required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in bookkeeping and tax preparation, preferably in a public accounting firm.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax regulations.

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
